Kathryn Partington is deeply interested in the application of surface pattern and ornamentation in jewellery. She produces unique pieces by utilising her background training within the discipline of tableware ceramics and printed textiles. She combines these skills through material manipulation and experimentation. Her current collection of work is based on an 1890 Victorian adaptation of a Japanese style tableware pattern, which is symbolic of the dialogue that exists then and now between Eastern and Western ideas of design. Decoration is reworked through the above processes and applied to hand formed silver pieces, natural and hand dyed silks and bone china.
