Adrean Bloomard was born in Italy in 1966. He studied at the Art Institute of Rome, in the metalsmithing department, under Prof. Franco Uncini. He undertook an apprenticeship as a jeweller for six years to gain more experience and has been working as a freelance jeweller since 1987. He also followed a workshop under Cristina Filipe of Ar.Co.. He is co-founder of AGC, the Italian association for contemporary jewellery, of which he is an executive committee member. He was invited as a speaker in a conference on contemporary jewellery organized by the Rome Chamber of Commerce and took part as a speaker in the conference Views on Portuguese and Italian Jewellery in Lisbon. He has curated and taken part in the organization of several events in Italy and abroad. His work has been shown in exhibitions and galleries in Italy, United Kingdom, Austria, Portugal and Japan, as well as at the Museo Nazionale d'Arte Orientale, Rome. Bloomard's work is characterized by different textures achieved on the surface of the metal, as well as by a contrasting use of colours, although he is particularly drawn to the warm colour of gold per se. His latest research has brought him to study ancient civilizations and how they adorned themselves. Through very simple forms, he expresses a contemporary view of primordial means of adornment. Indeed, many of his pieces have a correlation to exhibits that would be found in a museum, dating back thousands of years ago, but have an extraordinarily contemporary nature to them at the same time. Much of his attention has been given to elements used in everyday life from the Mediterranean area, in an attempt to discover similarities with modern day life.
