Monica Cecchi

Monica Cecchi's work has a very strong impact on the viewer and has a somewhat sculptural approach to it. Her pieces have a humorous outlook and are intensely profound. She makes use of unconventional materials, such as iron, tin and wood, among others, combined with gold, not merely as an aesthetic choice, but to convey a personal state of mind. Cecchi has the ability to play with different themes and transform even the most dramatic of them into light-hearted concepts. All this resulting in a blithe approach in her making process, overriding conscious intentions, bringing her to unexpected results. Her work creates a dialogue, insofar as it encourages the observer to enter into an imaginary world made up of metaphors that can be personalized and adapted to each individual's emotions.
