Ute Kolar

Kolar's earlier work incorporated more solid structures with respect to the airy quality and lightness conveyed to her present pieces. These are certainly visually light but also physically weightless, although voluminous. Kolar's technical abilities are such that she is able to use a great array of skills to her advantage in her work. Her pieces are usually very labour intense and pay attention to detail, which makes them all the more intriguing to observe. Her main inspiration at the moment comes from nature, as we can see from her "tree" or "flower" rings.
