Rian de Jong

De Jong makes a close study of metropolitan life and re-interprets found objects in a naturalistic form. She is particularly drawn to new places and likes getting familiar with the surroundings. In this process, she wanders round searching for small shops or markets selling second-hand goods that cannot be found elsewhere. Then, when back in her studio, she transforms their original purpose into new personal codes for us to translate.
